Hi friends!! Today I’m back to talk about all things Google Chrome extensions. I know they seem like such a mundane topic, but many of these extensions have saved me time, money, and have improved overall productivity in my business. Some of them serve a really big purpose, while others just cut out mundane tasks I’d have to do otherwise. Read below for the extensions I think every social media marketer in 2020 should be using!
I mentioned these in my Favorite Tools for Managing Freelance Client Work post, but they are worth mentioning again because they save lives!! Not really (lol), but they do save paid media campaigns.
Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Snapchat, and TikTok all have extensions on the Chrome browser that help ensure your Pixels are installed correctly. They provide valuable information such as the number of Pixels on a website’s page and any errors, warnings, or issues associated with said Pixels. These plug-ins are indispensable tools for social media marketers and I truly don’t know how other marketers function without them.
This plug-in’s functions are pretty minimal (it only notifies you if you have a new LinkedIn notification lol), but it’s great to have installed because LinkedIn is a fabulous platform to capture leads on.
If you find yourself spending a bit too much time on Facebook (& not for work related purposes) then this extension is for you. It blurs out your Facebook News Feed and replaces it with an inspirational quote so you won’t be tempted to fall into a scroll hole.
This is my favorite screen and video recording extension for Chrome. I tried Loom for a bit and just didn’t like it as much so I switched back. Screencastify allows you to record unlimited videos up to 5 minutes. It also has a variety of trimming and exporting options, and is so easy to use I swear a 5 year old could figure it out.
I love this extension because the videos auto-save to your Google Drive and make it so easy to share. I mainly use this when I’m troubleshooting Facebook errors and have to send chat support more detailed recordings, but I have used this to share previews with clients as well.
The name of this one is king of self-explanatory- it takes screenshots of your desktop lol. But the reason I love this particular extension is because when you press ALT+SHIFT+P the extension will capture each part of the page and transport it to a new tab where you can download your screenshots as a PDF. It’s basically a better snipping tool in my opinion.
If you’ve ever been social stalking someone’s website or reading a gorgeous email newsletter and wanted to know what font(s) they’re using then you NEED this extension. Font Face Ninja identifies any font from any website and allows you to try them in your own design software (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.). It’s amazing and honestly one of the most useful extensions I’ve used.
This is the only PAID extension I’m recommending, but I have to because it is so so good. Group Leads is a must-have plug-in if you are managing a large Facebook group or multiple Facebook groups. It allows you to add new group member data into a Google spreadsheet and from there you can add the submitted emails to your email marketing software. It’s such a valuable tool for retargeting!
RiteTag takes the guess work out of hashtag research. It gives you hashtag recommendations and suggestions for any images or texts on any platform. It even color codes the hashtags to help you gauge the strength. Green means you can use that hashtag to get seen instantly, blue means the hashtag will help you get seen overtime, red means not to use the hashtag because your post will disappear in the crowd, and gray means not to use the hashtag because it doesn’t have enough people searching for it.
LastPass is a free password manager that saves all of your passwords and securely auto-fills them when you login. This was a game changer for me because not only am I managing multiple accounts with multiple logins, but I also change my passwords on a quarterly basis for safety reasons.
Having the Emoji keyboard extension installed on your Chrome browser will make copy writing just a bit easier because you won’t have to go to a third party website to find the emoji you’re looking for. This is especially useful to those who use a third party scheduling tool like Later or Planoly to schedule captions and content in advance.
And there ya have it! Those are the top Chrome extensions that I get the most use out of in my business. I’d love to know what your must-have extensions are or if I am missing any good ones!! As always, shoot me a DM or leave me a comment below. 🙂
